Pet sitting Service Agreement

1. Parties & services

This Service Agreement ("Agreement") is between [Your business name] ("the Provider"), operated by [Your name], and the pet owner named below ("the Client"). The Provider agrees to supply pet sitting services for the pet(s) described in the Client's booking and care details. By signing, the Client confirms the information they have given about each pet — including health, behaviour, feeding and any medication — is accurate and complete.

2. Bookings & schedule

Each visit is arranged in advance and confirmed by the Provider before it goes ahead. The Client agrees to give as much notice as possible of any change to the schedule. The Provider will make every reasonable effort to keep to agreed times but cannot guarantee exact arrival times, as traffic, weather and the needs of other animals can cause delays.

3. Fees & payment

Fees are agreed in advance at the Provider's current rates and shown on each invoice. Payment is due by the date stated on the invoice. The Provider does not store card details and accepts the payment methods listed on the invoice.

4. Cancellations & no-shows

The Client agrees to give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a booked visit. Cancellations with less notice, and no-shows, may be charged in full at the Provider's discretion. The Provider will give the Client as much notice as possible if they ever have to cancel, and will help arrange a suitable alternative where they can.

5. Access, keys & security

Where the Provider needs access to the Client's home, the Client is responsible for ensuring a working means of entry (key, lockbox code or smart-lock access) is provided. The Provider will keep all access details secure and use them only to carry out the agreed services. Keys and codes will be returned or deleted at the end of the engagement on the Client's request. The Client confirms they are authorised to grant this access.

6. Veterinary care & emergencies

In an emergency, the Provider will make every reasonable effort to contact the Client and the emergency contact named below. If neither can be reached, the Provider may take the pet to the Client's named vet or the nearest available veterinary practice. The Client authorises the Provider to seek emergency veterinary treatment where the Provider judges it necessary; the Client remains responsible for all veterinary costs. The Client confirms the vaccination and health information they have provided is current.

7. Liability

The Provider will care for each pet with reasonable skill and care. The Client accepts that pets can be unpredictable and that, except where loss or injury is caused by the Provider's negligence, the Provider is not liable for injury, illness, loss or escape of a pet, or for damage caused by a pet. The Client confirms their pet is in good health, is not knowingly aggressive, and that they have disclosed any behaviour the Provider should know about.

8. Photos & updates

The Provider may take photos and short videos of the pet during the engagement to share with the Client as updates. The Client agrees / does not agree (delete as appropriate) that the Provider may also use these images, without identifying the Client or their address, to promote the Provider's business on social media and its website.

9. Term & termination

This Agreement begins on the date it is signed and continues until ended by either party. Either party may end it at any time with reasonable notice; any visits already booked and any outstanding fees remain payable. The Provider may decline or stop a service if a pet poses a risk to safety or if information provided proves to be inaccurate.

10. Acknowledgement & signature

By signing below, the Client confirms they have read, understood and agree to this Agreement, and that the pet and care information they have provided is accurate. Client name: ____________________ Signature: ____________________ Date: __________ Provider ([Your business name]): ____________________ Date: __________ Emergency contact (name & phone): ____________________

Why use a service agreement

The one document that protects your business.

A service agreement turns a casual “sure, I’ll watch Bella” into a clear understanding both sides can point to. It spells out your cancellation policy so a last-minute drop-out doesn’t cost you a booked night, authorises emergency vet care when an owner can’t be reached, and sets out liability before there’s ever a problem. It’s also what a professional looks like from the first booking.

Generate your wording here, then get it signed without the printer-and-scanner dance: with Pupline you can send the agreement as a private link for clients to e-sign on their phone — no account, no app — and keep a timestamped record against each client.

Questions

Pet care contracts, answered.

Do I need a contract as a pet sitter or dog walker?

It's strongly recommended. A written service agreement sets out your cancellation policy, payment terms, liability and emergency vet authorisation, so both sides know where they stand and you're protected if something goes wrong. It also makes you look professional from the first booking. Many pet-care insurers and trade bodies expect you to use one.

What should a pet care service agreement include?

At minimum: who the parties are and the service provided; how bookings and payment work; a cancellation and no-show policy; how home access and keys are handled; authorisation to seek emergency veterinary care (and who pays); a liability clause; and a photo/marketing consent line. This generator builds each of those sections for you and lets you switch the optional ones on or off.

Is an electronically signed pet care contract legally binding?

In most places an electronic signature is as valid as a handwritten one, provided both parties intend to agree and you keep a record of the signature. The exact rules vary by country and state, so for high-stakes terms it's worth having the wording reviewed locally. Pupline records a clear, timestamped signature against each client for your files.

Is this service agreement generator free?

Yes — it's completely free, with no sign-up. Fill in your details, choose your clauses, and copy or download the agreement as a text file you can edit, brand and send. It's a template starting point, not legal advice.

Can my clients sign the agreement online?

With Pupline, yes. You can send a client your service agreement as a private link, they read and sign it on their phone with no account or app, and the signed copy is recorded against them with the date. This generator gives you the wording; Pupline's Agreements feature handles getting it signed.

Get it signed, not just written.

Pupline sends your agreement as a private link clients e-sign on their phone — no account, no app — and records the signature against each client. Scheduling, Care Cards and branded invoices come with it, for one simple monthly price.
